Can someone from the sciencey side of tumblr please explain this ?

This is called shape memory. It’s made from an alloy of titanium and nickel (I believe it’s called nitinol). It has the ability to “remember” the shape it’s taken.
When cold you can bend it whatever which way, but once you heat it (or in this case put it in what I presume is hot water) it will take the original shape.

thank you sciencey side of tumblr

Learned about this at uni. It’s literally magic.

One of the things I hate most about this class

We defined 1 to refer to the identity for a particular binary operator.
There are now cases where 1≠1 and it really pisses me off.

Sometimes, I wish I could ban my students from saying the word “gay” unless we’re specifically talking about homosexual people. Today one kid said that the ceiling was gay. Ceiling can’t be gay. Ceiling can’t even be straight. Ceiling is ceiling….

UniSFA ceiling is uncertain. Is labelled both ceiling and floor.

What? A sports reference?

Everyone once in a while this plays throws me a curveball that I wasn’t expecting. I was definitely not expecting overly polite students.

Pretty sure this video just claimed something isn’t unethical for a business if everyone else is doing it.

There’s a leak in the lecture theatre for my Project Management unit coming through the light fixture. Lecturer recognises it’s a major/serious issue then quickly moves on. It’s like I’m being prepared for the real world.

I am the best president.

This is an ethics class

So, our group is definitely the most capitalist and terrible group in our tutorial. We were given an environmental disaster and our first idea was to use this to acquire money from the situation to benefit the company. We were the only group that considered this a possibility.
